Townsend Livestock Market

Townsend Livestock Market

In 1945 Jim Allen and Daisy R. Townsend purchased Madison Stockyards. Together with their 8 children, they successful ran the market for 23 years. In 1968, the market was purchased from them by their son George Townsend and his wife Avanell C. Townsend.

Due to growth and lack of area, George and Avanell  relocated the market in 1976. The new location offered much more area and was closer to I-10 making it more desirable for sellers further from Madison.

In 1994 the market was relocated to its current location at the intersection of I-10 and State Road 53 South. The market was renamed Townsend Livestock Market.

In 1999 Abb Townsend  and Barbara Greiner began the 3rd generation of ownership.

They continue to offer quality livestock services to North Florida and South Georgia areas.
